During one of the frosty days in Alberta I found this Great Horned Owl sitting in the trees and then he dropped down onto the ground. I spent about half an hour watching him and he let me get very close. It was very cold that day.
This one was intent on a prize that was in view. It soon launched, caught it and flew into the forest. Canada
I have spent years travelling through the rocky mountains and have seen a few of these great birds but never gotten a good shot. This day I came upon two separate individuals a few miles apart that were very intent on hunting and I managed to spend a good hour between them. They can be seen hunting in the daylight where as a lot of owls hunt mostly at night . Fantastic to watch. Canada
